No wasted effort, but a superb comeback! Martiška's hat trick breaks Black Wings

The Player of the Week in RAHL3 is Peter Martiška of team Márna Snaha. And not by chance – against Black Wings he scored a hat trick and played a major part in the 4:2 win. The game did not go according to plan from the start, as Márna Snaha trailed 1:2 in the opening half, but in the second half they pulled off a turnaround. In the interview Martiška rates his performance, what changed the course of the game and what they make of the move up to 4th place.

1. A hat trick against Black Wings. How would you rate your performance in this game?

Peter: “I'm very happy that I managed to score a hat trick, but I have to say it wasn't just about me. My performance was the result of teamwork and the support I got from my teammates. Every goal came out of a great combination and accurate passes. I feel that we all gave our best, and that's the most important thing.”

2. The opening half of the game didn't go the way you wanted, you were trailing 1:2, but in the second half you turned the game around to a final score of 4:2. How would you rate your team's performance?

Peter: “The first half of the game was hard for us, but we showed enormous strength and determination in the second half. We came together as a team and every single one of us did his part in turning the result around. The key was that we didn't give up and believed in ourselves, which helped us get the win.”

3. Thanks to the win you have moved up to 4th place in your group. Do you think you have what it takes to hold on to a spot that guarantees the playoffs?

Peter: “I believe we have what it takes to stay in the upper part of the standings. Every game is an opportunity for us that we have to take. But we have to keep working hard and focus on each game separately. Our performances in the last few games show that we're on the right track.”

4. Scoring a hat trick surely means you will have to bring something to the locker room. What are your goals worth in your locker room?

Peter: “Goals are just one aspect of the game. What matters to me is that we all feel good and motivated. If I managed to contribute to the win, I believe it will strengthen the team spirit.”

A hat trick may go down under one player's name, but this game was proof that it doesn't work without the team. Márna Snaha showed that even when the first half doesn't go your way, you can still win – if you don't break and you start playing your game. Peter Martiška summed it up precisely: goals are great, but they only have value once they turn into points. And it was those points that sent them to 4th place, where it is no longer about chance but about whether they can hold that position to the end.
