Finally, they went in. Hlinka orchestrated Beers' wild 7:4 win with four points
In RAHL3, the Player of the Week is Michal Hlinka. Against Knights he collected 4 points (3 goals + 1 assist) and played a major part in team Beers' 7:4 win. How does he rate his performance, what decided the game and what did it look like right there on the ice? Here is the interview.
1. A hat trick and an assist against team Knights – how would you describe your performance?
Michal: “We played very well as a line. We managed to play what we had talked about before the game, we created chances from it and, finally, goals came out of it.”
2. The game itself was a real goal fest. We got to see as many as 11 goals. How would you describe your team's performance in the game?
Michal: “We haven't had much luck scoring goals this season, and we kept telling ourselves it had to come sometime – and this was the game where we managed to score several goals right at the start. Even so, it wasn't easy, because Knights started playing better and closing the gap. But we were always able to pull away and hold on to the lead until the end of the game. Everybody worked hard right to the end.”
3. Thanks to this win you have slowly moved closer to the playoff zone. How do you see your team's chances of making the playoffs?
Michal: “We have tougher opponents ahead of us now. If we manage to pick up points, it could work out. If not, we're looking forward to the Pohár nádeje too, where this year we want to get further than the first round.”
4. It was the first game after a longer Christmas break. How did you prepare during the break?
Michal: “Responsibly, of course – potato salad and cakes. We also got on the ice a couple of times between the holidays, and at the start of the year we had a multi-family conditioning ski camp.”
Hlinka delivered a hat trick plus an assist, exactly the kind of performance that breaks a game open. Beers scored seven goals but gave up four, so it was no walk in the park, more of an honest goal fest. Still, the 7:4 result speaks clearly. The offense went full throttle, and when it mattered, the key moments were on Beers' side, mainly thanks to Hlinka, who was in on everything important.
