He had a hand in every goal! Durmis delivered the triumph for Royals and is leading the charge for the Pohár nádeje
In RAHL3 we saw a tight, nervy game in which Royals got the better of Beers and won 3:2. The key figure was Dalibor Durmis, who put his name to all of his team's goals. He scored two and assisted on one. After the game we asked him what decided it and how he saw the game unfold.
1. Two goals and one assist against Beers. How would you rate your performance?
Dalibor: “I'm glad the points came for me, but the most important thing is the win. Points are nice, but they wouldn't have come without the work of the whole team.”
2. A narrow 3:2 win. How would you rate your team's performance?
Dalibor: “It was a hard-fought game. Our goalie bailed us out, we played with discipline and we showed character in the decisive moments.”
3. Results-wise, you struggled quite a bit this season. Where do you think the problem was this year?
Dalibor: “We lacked consistency in our performances and a deeper lineup. When we had everyone and played simple, we were able to be an even match for anybody.”
4. Ahead of the last round of the regular season, you can no longer move up or drop down in the standings. Will you treat the last game as preparation for the Pohár nádeje games?
Dalibor: “Definitely, yes. We want to set our pace, fine-tune the details and go into the elimination stage in the best form possible.”
5. Which opponent would you most like to meet in the elimination stage of the Pohár nádeje?
Dalibor: “It doesn't matter. If we want to succeed, we have to get past everybody. We're focusing on our own game rather than on the name of the opponent.”
With the 3:2 win, Royals take important points from an even game that turned on details. Dalibor Durmis (2+1) was the difference-maker, but he knows well himself that wins like this don't come easily. It takes hard work, discipline and getting the key moments right. That is how he assessed the team's performance and his own contribution in the interview after the game.
