Tomáš Mifkovič: “Night Riders came into the league to give everyone a hard time and get as far as possible.”

The Player of Round 9 in RAHL 3 is Tomáš Mifkovič. His team, Night Riders, beat the Ľadoborci side by a score of 5:1. Tomáš Mifkovič contributed to the win with a penalty-shot goal and two assists. In the interview we look at the team’s performance, the decisive penalty shot, his pregame routine and the ambitions of a league newcomer.

1. In Round 9 you managed to beat Ľadoborci 5:1. How would you rate the team’s performance in this game?

Tomáš: “Everyone put in a great performance in the game, with a high level of commitment; we went into the game with a win-only mentality.”

2. You managed to score on a penalty shot. Did you have it planned out in advance what you were going to do, or did you wait to see what the goalie would do?

Tomáš: “I didn’t have it planned out in advance at all. The goalie came out pretty far, so I tried to pull some kind of deke on him, which worked out in the end. Honestly, it’s my second goal in 2 games, which I’m very happy about.”

3. Among the prizes for the Player of the Round is a voucher for the Karaoke bar. Do you have a favorite song that you put on before a game?

Tomáš: “On the way there I almost always put on Viktor Sheen.”

4. As a league newcomer, what ambitions did Night Riders go into the competition with? Feel free to tell us your individual goals in the league as well.

Tomáš: “Personally, I didn’t go into the league with any goal, more just to help my friends and play better-quality hockey than at pickup games. Night Riders, of course, came into the league to give everyone a hard time and get as far as possible.”

What emerges from Tomáš Mifkovič’s answers is a consistent focus on winning, a willingness to buy into team tactics and an ability to decide situations by reading the goaltender correctly. His pregame music routine is steady (Viktor Sheen), his personal goals remain modest, and his priority is helping his teammates and playing quality hockey. Night Riders entered RAHL 3 with the ambition of giving every opponent a hard time and advancing as far as possible. His 1+2 performance against Ľadoborci and the fact that it was his second goal in two games confirm the player’s current form.
