Peter Tisovský after the derby win: “We're a great bunch, and we want the title as a present for Rázus's 40th.”

In RAHL2, Player of the Week honors were earned by Peter Tisovský of TJ Družstevník Petržalka. In the Petržalka derby against HK Petržalka he recorded 2 goals and added 1 assist. His team won the important game convincingly, 7:2. In the interview he talks about why the game came easy to him, what he thinks is behind the lopsided win, how they are approaching the upcoming key game against Uličníci, in which they can seal first place in the regular season, and what manager Martin Rázus means in the locker room.

1. Two goals and one assist on top of it. How would you rate your performance?

Peter: “I felt good right from the start, I had light legs and I was skating well. During the game I kept telling myself that I had to skate actively without the puck too and find good spots in front of the net, and that was working for me. There were mistakes on my part as well, but I think the performance was good.”

2. A big 7:2 win in the Petržalka derby against HK Petržalka. How would you rate your team's performance?

Peter: “We've been doing well against HK Petržalka this season. I think games against stronger opponents suit us better, and a big win like this is really nice. I have to say we have an outstanding defense, and that's why the game is easier for us forwards.”

3. If you get through the next game against Uličníci, you will be certain to start in the playoff semifinals. Do you feel nervousness in the locker room ahead of this game, or are you treating it as an ordinary game?

Peter: “Speaking for myself, I treat it like any other game and I give it everything and go all in. Of course we want to win and confirm first place. It would make everyone on the team happy.”

4. Your team's manager, Martin Rázus, is one of the big personalities of the competition. This season things are going very well for him “as a manager.” Has he motivated you in the locker room with anything for winning the regular season?

Peter: “Martin is a great guy and he always fills the locker room. Yes, he's a great manager, but everybody makes mistakes. If we hadn't been docked the points for the game against Lions, we'd be first. Now we still have to play the game against Uličníci. Of course we all like him and he doesn't need to motivate us with anything. We're a really good bunch, we have fun playing hockey and every one of us wants to win the league. He turns 40 this year, so I hope he gets the RAHL 2 title as a present.”

Tisovský summed it up clearly: he felt great, he wanted to be active without the puck too and to drive to the net, and it worked out for him. Of the 7:2 win he pointed out that games against stronger opponents suit them, and that thanks to an excellent defense the game is simpler for the forwards. He is not going to panic ahead of the game against Uličníci. He is treating it as an ordinary game, but with the goal of confirming first place. And when it came to team manager Rázus, you could tell that the team sticks together. A good bunch, no artificial motivation – they want the title, ideally also as a present for his fortieth birthday.
