Lantoš directed a wild goal fest: With four points he shot down Mad Vipers and kept Neanderthals in the playoff hunt

In RAHL1, Player of the Week honors were snapped up by Vladimír Lantoš of Neanderthals. As many as 11 goals were scored in the goal fest against Mad Vipers. Neanderthals gutted it out 6:5, and Lantoš was the most visible man out there. He put 2 goals and 2 assists on the scoresheet. How did he see the crazy course of the game, what decided it and what does it say about the team’s form?

1. Two goals and two assists against Mad Vipers. How would you rate your performance?

Vladimír: “I’m satisfied. I felt good physically and in my game, and I managed to convert my chances. As a former professional player, I always try to bring experience to the game and be a leader on the ice.”

2. The game against Mad Vipers was really wild in terms of goals. For you it had a happy ending, a narrow 6:5 win. How would you rate your team’s performance?

Vladimír: “It was a game we had to win to be able to think about the playoffs. We showed that we’re capable of a likable performance too. Maybe we made a few mistakes, but as a team we got it done.”

3. There are still 3 games left in the regular season and your team is 3 points back of the last playoff spot. Can your team get to 8th place in the standings?

Vladimír: “There are very few games left in the regular season. I hope we can battle and fight our way to 8th place in the standings, even though I think we don’t deserve it this season. I’m the one who started it, when I got a 5-game suspension in the first game. I don’t think it warranted the kind of punishment I got, but that’s sports. Sometimes things can be forgiven, and sometimes a different yardstick is used than for everybody else. What I’m sorry about is that something like this can happen in a league where we’re basically playing for peanuts.”

4. It was the first game after a long Christmas break. How did you prepare during the break?

Vladimír: “I didn’t do any special preparation over the Christmas break. Because I work as a coach, I’m always in shape. Maybe I miss the ice time, but unfortunately I have my job and I can’t afford to train on the ice as well. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for the interview. And to say that next season we’ll come better prepared and fight for a higher spot in the standings.”

A game where nobody played it safe and everybody attacked. Neanderthals scored six goals, yet they were on the edge right up to the very end. Exactly the type of game where a single mistake can bring everything crashing down and one good play decides it. Lantoš collected four points, drove the offense and showed clearly why he is one of the leaders. The 6:5 win brings the points, but it also sends a clear message: the offense is humming, it just needs to close things out sooner next time, without the unnecessary drama.
